Prioritizing God’s Heart Over Our Requests: A Morning Reflection

One early morning, all my children came running into my room, resulting in them sliding into bed with my husband and I.

The first thing they said was, “Mommy, we want breakfast!”

No ‘Good Morning‘..

No ‘Are you okay?’..

No ‘I love you“..

Just requests.

This moment made me think of all the times we, children of God, come to Him only to make requests of what we want and failing to acknowledge Him..

who He is..

His Holy presence..

His goodness.

God wants us to want His heart more than His hands.

Our first priority shouldn’t be about what we want but about what He wants.

He wants us to seek first His Kingdom and righteousness..

He wants us to come to know Him..

He wants us to come before Him with praises and worship….. FIRST!

When we live in this order, then what we want will follow.

Our good and loving Father knows all that we need even before we ask; He simply just wants to be acknowledged first, but if we’re not intentional about connecting with His heart, we’d fall into the habit of wanting just what He can do for us.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Matthew 6:33 ESV
