When I came out of my home office, I could see that my Bible was thrown down on the floor next to the couch.
It was clear that it was thrown down by my daughter, Kailani, because she sat in the exact place my Bible was.
I walked over to her and instructed her to pick my Bible up and place it on the opposite end of the couch, where I planned to sit some time later.
She then picked it up and slung it where I wanted it.
The truth is… this was upsetting because I did not like the manner she handled the thing that was precious and dear to me.
It may not have meant anything to her, but it did to me.
But then, I realized that I cannot expect people to automatically handle that which is precious to me because it is my responsibility to guard it.
Everyone has special gifts, talents, and many unique blessings that God has given us steward.
Stewardship isn’t limited to careful and intentional management, it also involves guarding what was entrusted to us.
This includes our heart, our mind, our gifts, family, and talents.
Not everyone will consider that what we each have are gifts, and will therefore, mishandle them – if we are not guarding them well.
Who we expose our gifts and blessings to matters..
Who we give access to our gifts and blessings matter..
Who and how people handle our gifts and blessings matter..
This is all true because this is stewardship, and stewardship is important to God.
“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”
