My youngest daughter, Kamryn, drinks from sippy cups.
Recently, she decided to grab a bottled water and one of my glass coffee cups to bring to me – wanting me to pour water into the cup.
I (intentionally)gave her only a quarter of water to see how she’d handle it.
I made up in my mind that if she could prove that she can handle drinking from the regular cup, I’d allow her to continue using it. If not, the cup will be taken and she’d go back to using her sippy cup.
It’s unfortunate to say, she mishandled the regular cup.
This moment reminded me of the times that God will give us a sample of something that we’d ask for to see how we would manage it.
Maybe it’s a home, a car, money, or a ministry.
If we cannot handle bigger or more, or is even unfaithful over the small things, God will discontinue that access until we prove that we can handle it.
This isn’t a moment that we should get upset or discouraged about when He takes it away; rather it is a moment to invite God in and confess, “Father, I need help handling this. Help me to steward what you have entrusted to me. I want to be someone that you can trust with much.”
He will do just that.
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
