I always give my children either a pencil or crayon to complete their educational work and activities.
On one particular day, none were in sight so I gave my son a pen.
After a few minutes into his work, he called me over to ask for an eraser – not knowing that the ink on the paper cannot be erased.
I told him that he’d have to just keep going because his mistake cannot be erased.
As those words proceeded from my mouth, I began to internalize what I was saying to my son.
Mistakes cannot be erased, but we still have the opportunity to keep going.
God doesn’t treat us based on our mistakes, instead He sees us for who we are going to be – people that never gave up and kept going, even after dozens of mistakes were made.
We have promises to look forward to if we don’t give up.
The next generation is depending on our tenacity.
God has given every believer the power to endure not only through hardships, but also after making mistakes.
We shouldn’t give up all because God won’t give up on us.
When we begin to see our mistakes from a different and positive perspective, we’ll see that they serve to help more than anything else.
Since a mistake’s mark is permanent in our lives (meaning that they’re unerasable), we can refer back to them only to keep us from making the same mistakes we’ve made in the past.
Mistakes are meant to be the step-ups that we can utilize to live the way God intended for us to live – free, whole, and content.
“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”
