Embrace the Present: Overcoming Overwhelm in Life

As I was helping my son complete his summer work, he paused to take a preview of the work that was stacked under the sheet he was working on.

After seeing the other documents, he took a deep sigh. I could tell that he started to get a bit overwhelmed about the amount of work he had to complete after the one he was working on.

I then told him to focus on what was in front of him with me to help him through it.

In the same way, we may feel overwhelmed about the work we have to get done in the future.

While in the present moment, it is important to take care of what is before us.

Many times, what is before us is purposed to prepare us for the next.

Our Heavenly Father is with us each step of the way. For every step, He’s helping us get through it so that we’d be able to move on to the next.

His Word tells us that He goes before us; whatever it is that we look forward to doing, His help, strength, and grace is with us to get it done.

In the meantime, getting the current job done is the setup for the next, therefore, focus on the present moment.

“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
