Trusting God in Times of Delay

My daughter, Kailani, called me from upstairs.

I responded saying, “I’m coming!” while finishing up dinner that was on the stovetop.

After a few seconds or so from the first time, she called for me again.

In my mind, I thought, ‘did she not believe that I’d come to her when she called me the first time?‘

‘Does she not trust me to be there when she needs me at any given moment?’

‘When I tell her that I am coming, though maybe not on her time, does she not believe that I’m coming on time?’

‘Might she not know that I am getting something good prepared for her, and if I stop what I am doing to go see about her at this very moment, what I am preparing for her could be ruined for her to enjoy?’

Seeing this moment from God’s perspective led me to question my level of trust in my Heavenly Father.

Do I trust Him to show up for me when I first call to Him, believing that He’s coming to see about me?

When He says that He’s coming, do I truly believe that He will come on time?

In the delay, do I ever think that He’s not showing up when I want Him to because He’s preparing something good for me?

God the Father is absolutely, positively, undoubtedly an on-time god.

Whenever we first call out to Him, He hears – and remembers us.

Many times, He may not show up at the time or in the ways we may want Him to, but we can trust that He’s a Man of His Word and if He says that He’s coming, it is so!

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”

Habakkuk 2:3 NIV
