Light in the Darkness

If there was ever something I stopped my children from doing and then turn my back or leave the room, they’d continue doing exactly what I told them not to do because they think I cannot see them.

They have this notion that “if mama’s back is turned, she won’t know what I’m doing.”

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a false statement!

Parents know their child(ren).

Parents understand that their child(ren) are curious creatures.

Parents know that their child(ren) has a tendency to give in to their temptations most times, simply because they want what pleases them.

Parents also understand the importance of accountability their child(ren) need which, in turn, serves as a reminder to stay away from doing what is wrong and yield to what is right.

In the same way, as children of God, we ought to never think that God has His back turned against us or cannot see us do the wrong things He commands us not to do.

God sees and knows everything.

What may be the darkest room to us, is lit up and full of light to Him.

We fool ourselves when we think we can fool Him and get away with doing wrong.

God knows that our flesh is prone to going against His spirit and His commands.

When He commands us to not do something, He keeps an eye on us for accountability purposes because He knows that there will always be something (or someone) else that begs for our attention so that we be drawn away from Him.

To remind us of this isn’t to make God into this creep that follows us every where, rather it is purposed to let us know that we have a Father that longs to be with us everywhere we go – in the good and bad. This is also a reminder that He is always close when His children needs His help – even when we don’t ask for it.

His Spirit serves as our accountability partner that encourages us to be obedient at all times, even when our flesh is weak and temptation is near.

He is the light in the darkness that can never be hidden nor can anything be hidden from Him.

"Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there? If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you."
Psalm 139:7-12 ESV
