I’m sure you may be wondering what the picture above is all about. Let’s just say that I intentionally put in my vehicle a container of seeds. This was done so that my kids may become curious (as usual) and one day decide to get a taste of a good and healthy snack instead of sweets and junk foods.
On the way to school, I offered some to my son who at first seemed interested in giving the snack a try. Then he decided to decline my offer.
However, after school at pick up, he accepted my offer to give the seed mix a try.
He eased on into a small portion of the mixture that I poured into his hand, only to discover that he really liked the healthy snack.
As I watched him come back for more, I thought this moment was a representation of what it might look like when we are intentional about our Father’s kingdom business.
Are we intentionally planting seeds in places that can attract the attention of others or are we hiding the things that God gave us to share?
Are we intentionally continiuing to offer words of encouragement and edification, of insight and hope, and of healing and love or are we giving up at the first sign of rejection?
Are we intentionally praying for those that have, at first, declined the offer to receive the good that God has for them, and that they will one day come back with an open hand, ear, and heart to discover the goodness of the Word that reveals that the Lord really is good, which later results in them coming back for more Him?
Are we being intentional about sowing seeds so that God have something to breathe on and bless for His glory?
Being intentional to do what pleases the Lord is foundational to our calling as disciples of Christ.
Intentionality plant seeds for eternity.
What seeds are you planting?
"What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom
you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building."
1 Corinthians 3:5-9 NIV
