From Stains To Saints

As a mom of very young children, I can testify about the ugly stains that is found in my children’s clothes as I get laundry done. From spaghetti sauce to juice stains, I spend more time finding ways to scrub them out than I do tossing them in and letting the washer do its job.

But there are stains that the washer just cannot wash out on its own.

Some stains require a bit more elbow grease, an additional cleaning agent, and maybe a prayer.

Though it may take up more of my time and energy, I am willing and determined to get the tough stains out because of my desperate desire to make sure that my children show up clean, neat, and presentable to the world.

In most times, we [people] tend to go for the “quick and easy” way to get things done which causes us to shy away or avoid the things that require process and effort because it does not seem satisfying and enjoyable in the moment.

But the truth is, the best quality results is produced by the work that requires more time and effort.

When God sees our stains, caused by sin, He doesn’t find the easy way to get rid of them.

Instead, He carefully cleanses us with the most powerful and saturating cleansing agents there is – His love, His blood, and the Word.

As long as we are not resisting Him in the cleansing process, we can bear witness to His gentleness and patience, adhere to His discipline and correction, and be perfected in His grace and love.

No devotional, sermon, quote of the day, or song can independently cleanse us like Father God can.

It is only by Him that our stains of sin be washed away so that we are presented as purified and holy saints to the world.

A MOMent to Reflect:

I have become obsessed with the scent of different laundry detergents and softeners. My sister, for example, has a detergent that smells amazing and leaves an impressing scent even after she and her children leave a room. It has caused me to inquire about the washing agents that she use on the regular.

As Christ believers and followers, it works the same way.

When we allow Father God to cleanse us from a worldly lifestyle and furthermore begin to show up in the world as the beings that He created us to be [reflections of Himself], people will begin to inquire about who we are, what caused us to change and be so different, and how did we become so clean.

The world will become impressed by the changes that God has made in our lives, especially for those that have seen or experienced our past stains of sin.

The fragrance of sin reeks to God. But when we allow Him to cleanse us from the inside out, we give off an aroma that is better than anything in the world that He uses to attract and draw others to Him.

This is what satisfies Him the most.

"[...........] Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬
