Every morning, I cook my family breakfast.
The three consistent sides that I make each morning is eggs, grits, hashbrown, and sausage; and I alternate between waffles and pancakes as the bread.
This has become a norm in my household – even if I must leave the house for a full day, I’ll fully prepare meals that will last until I return.
My oldest daughter, Kailani, request a filling of eggs every morning before I take her to daycare.
Of course, this is no issue for me. In fact, it satisfies me to know that they have something on their stomach before leaving home – even if I know that they will be served again where ever they go [in which she does at daycare].
This means she gets a double portion of nutrients.
I am sure to believe that everything she consumes is enough to hold her over for a couple of hours.
One morning on the way to drop her and her sister off at daycare, I glanced in the mirror at her, while in the backseat, as she ate her eggs.
God then began to speak to me saying,
“That is the way my people are to be. They are to be fed from the Source first, and then any other feeding afterwards will knit together and seal what was given altogether.”
‘Other feedings ‘ are considered to be Holy Spirit-inspired sermons, devotionals, Bible studies, reading, and so forth.
Getting the right amount of nutrients for our body and soul is a very big deal because we need the fuel to do whatever needs to be done.
In the natural, nutrients are the fuel that keep our body up to par in our daily activities. Without fuel, our body is in a state of lack and eventually becomes weak and incapable of moving to do anything.
In the same way, when we miss out on our time to receive our daily bread [the Word of God] from the source [our Heavenly Father], our spirit goes into a state of lack. When this happens, we become powerless and incapable of dealing with spiritual matters.
We will never be fully satisfied nor equipped if we continue to lean and depend on devotionals, books, and sermons alone. Though they are very good and helpful, these things can only give us bits and pieces of the Word.
We need a full serving directly from the Source – Father God. Otherwise, nothing else will stick.
It is the Word of God that is originally meant to sustain us. Everything that comes after, serves as a binding agent that ensures that we can manage until we return to ‘the Source‘ for more.
A MOMent to Reflect:
Who doesn’t like dessert after a good meal?? [You’re weird if you don’t! Lol]
But at the same time, dessert is optional. So are appetizers.
What’s more important is the main entree. It has all the nutrition that we need to survive the day; or at least until the next meal of the day is served.
Even if an appetizer or dessert is not given, we can still be fully satisfied and filled.
This is what the Word of God does. It can stand alone.
It fully equips, fully inspires, fully empowers, and give us clear and whole directions for our lives.
Absolutely NO partiality!
Additionally, nothing can add or take away from its fullness and power.
God’s daily bread is sufficient for us.
I pray that from this moment on, we become content in Father God and His Word. Amen.
“But don’t let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother’s milk! There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.”
2 Timothy 3:14-17 [MSG]
