Here I Am Father!

Lately, I’ve been watching my daughter respond to calls that she “think” she hears.

She may be in another room or on a different level of our home and will yell out, “I’m coming! I’m coming Mom!” or “Here I come Dad!” when in actuality, no one has called her name.

My husband and I thought this was humorous at first, but then it has become something that she does quite often and it makes me think…..

“Is she really hearing her name being called?”

“Could this be a real experience happening in her life?”

As I continued to ponder on this, I was faced with the questions,

“Am I this attentive to the voice of God when He calls my name?”

“When He calls me for an assignment, am I quick to stop what I may be busy with so that I can give Him my undivided attention to respond?”

I absolutely believe God is always calling us. We were created to serve Him…

BUT ARE WE LISTENING??

Is our ears tuned in to His voice?

Is our hearts anticipating on His call?

Does our mind meditate on His Word?

Where we give our attention to matters and it has everything to do with how life will go for us.

A MOMent to Reflect:

Moms, I know that we’re surrounded by several people that call on us and demand our attention..

I know of the many responsibilities we have to check off on a daily basis..

I know of the pressures of feeling like we must answer to everything..

But the good news is that, we DO NOT have to answer to every call.

Some calls are false alarms and are just not worth our energy and attention.

But the ONE call that really matters is the call from God because when He calls,

it’s for purpose..

it’s for direction..

it’s for clarification..

it’s for healing and restoration..

It’s for a divine moment to give us fresh insight on His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

We only have 2 tasks in this. They are for us to simply listen to the call and obey.

Can we do this?

Yes we can!!

I want to encourage you to read the full chapter about the moment God calls Samuel.

Study and mediate on the details of this and consider the ways that this may apply to you.

Samuel served the Lord by helping Eli the priest, who was by that time almost blind. In those days, the Lord hardly ever spoke directly to people, and he did not appear to them in dreams very often. But one night, Eli was asleep in his room, and Samuel was sleeping on a mat near the sacred chest in the Lord's house. They had not been asleep very long when the Lord called out Samuel's name. “Here I am!” Samuel answered. Then he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am. What do you want?” “I didn't call you,” Eli answered. “Go back to bed.” Samuel went back. Again the Lord called out Samuel's name. Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am,” he said. “What do you want?” Eli told him, “Son, I didn't call you. Go back to sleep.” When the Lord called out his name for the third time, Samuel went to Eli again and said, “Here I am. What do you want?” Eli finally realized that it was the Lord who was speaking to Samuel. So he said, “Go back and lie down! If someone speaks to you again, answer, ‘I'm listening, Lord. What do you want me to do?’ ” Once again Samuel went back and lay down. The Lord then stood beside Samuel and called out as he had done before, “Samuel! Samuel!” “I'm listening,” Samuel answered. “What do you want me to do?”
