What is the most common response to the Father when He commands us to do something?
Nothing more.. nothing less.
The most common response? Burdened.
After telling my son to go to his room and make up his bed, he huffed and puffed and expressed his irritation as he marched on to his room to obey what I demanded.
I know. I know. There are some folks that probably judged what my initial response should be, while other people may simply say, “Well at least he did it.”
Both have a valid point, however, the point we must see here is that we also respond to God in this same manner.
How are we responding to the Father when He simply commands us to steward the time, the family, the home and resources, the job, the business, and the relationships He’s given us?
The blessings He has given never belonged to us. He’s been the owner of everything since the beginning of time. So when He demands us to clean it, manage it, invest it, build it, or work it, we should do it with a willing heart and a joyful spirit.
The way we obey matters. Anyone can do the right thing but have the wrong heart posture and intentions.
God sees and knows us inwardly and outwardly and because of this, it is His will that we respond to His commands with the right heart and attitude.
“In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,”
I John 5:3 NIV
