Forgive and Move Forward

I can honestly say that my children have shown me what true forgiveness looks like in real time.

I often witness how they look at one another with sincerity, apologize to one another, and continue playing together as if nothing ever happened.

They never hold a grudge against one another.

They never limit what they would and wouldn’t forgive.

They never get revenge at a later time.

They simply forgive and move on.

I believe this is how Father God wants all His children to be towards one another.

Who are we to hold on to a grudge when we too have hurt, disappointed, lied to, and turned away from Father God?

When we ask Him to forgive us for the sins we have committed against Him, He does so – never to remember them again.

According to 1 Corinthians 13:5,

“…. [love] is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.”

God is love.

There are times when we may feel like God hasn’t forgiven our sins, which to be quite honest, He probably hasn’t because you haven’t forgiven your brother or sister first (Matthew 6:14-15); or because we haven’t yet humbled ourselves and asked Him to forgive us (2 Chronicles 7:14). However, there are other times that we feel this way because it’s not that He didn’t forgive us because He did, but it’s because we haven’t forgiven ourselves.

To love yourself as you would God and other people, involves forgiving yourself for any wrongdoings and leaving it in the past.

Forgiveness is freedom.

Live in true freedom today!

“Where is the god who can compare with you—
wiping the slate clean of guilt,
Turning a blind eye, a deaf ear,
to the past sins of your purged and precious people?
You don’t nurse your anger and don’t stay angry long,
for mercy is your specialty. That’s what you love most.
And compassion is on its way to us.
    You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing.
You’ll sink our sins
to the bottom of the ocean.
You’ll stay true to your word to Father Jacob
and continue the compassion you showed Abraham—
Everything you promised our ancestors
    from a long time ago.”
