On the way home from picking up my children from school, my daughter asked if we could stop for pizza.
Quickly looking back over my shoulder at her, I told her, “No, I have something better at home.”
She then folded her arms and poked her lips, expressing how my response made her upset.
“I can handle you feeling that way and I am ok with you not agreeing with my decision, however, do not be disrespectful,” I said while looking at her in the rear view mirror.
In the same way, God can handle our big feelings and emotions.
He instilled them in us when He created mankind. However, it is our duty to manage and control them.
We have the right to express how we feel, but we do not have the right to dishonor, disrespect, and disobey the Father.
We, God’s children, must also know and understand that when life or situations doesn’t go in our favor, He has better for us. He do not purposely decline our requests just for His pleasure.
He is so patient, kind, and gentle all the time, especially in those moments when we do not understand His purpose and plan. He knows that we don’t know what’s ahead – which can be a bit frustrating, however, He understands and sympathizes with us.
Disobeying, dishonoring, and disrespecting Him is a sign that we do not have complete trust in Him; believing that He has something better for us as His children.
So, be angry.. be upset.. or even cross your arms, but refuse to give the enemy access to take you out of your rightful place of trusting the Father.
“Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry. Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.”
Ephesians 4:26-27
