Two Step

After taking care of laundry, I headed toward the staircase, with my daughter Kailani, alongside me.

When I took the first step down, she stood still but called me saying, “Mommy, wait!”

I stopped mid-step and turned to her, seeing that she had her hand held out.

“Mommy can you hold my hand?” she asked.

Even in knowing that this little 5 year old girl knew how to walk up and down stairs – safely, I still honored her requested by clasping hands with her and taking the next steps down.

This simple moment with my daughter actually made me feel really good.

It reminded me that no matter what my child has the ability to do and no matter her age, I am still needed.

This is the exact representation of how God desires us to be as His daughters.

No matter how mature we may be, or how old we are, or experience we’ve attained, we ought to be like Kailani – that is to not want to take the next step without our Father.

It pleases Him that we reach for His hand in everything to do.

Though we may have the ability to do and go, let us always feel the need to include our Father in our steps.

Steps toward our goals.

Steps toward our next assignment.

And even the steps we take when we climb up or downstairs (because most of us can be a bit clumsy lol).

Don’t take the your step with one, but with two.

"The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand."

Psalm 37: 23-24 NIV
