As I was sitting in my prayer closet meditating on the Word, I could hear my daughter at my bedroom door knocking and calling my name.
She knocked.
She called my name.
Knocked again.
Called my name…
This went on for several minutes, causing me to ask myself the question: “How many of us has Jesus knocking at our door, and even though we hear, we don’t answer?”
“The door” in this question isn’t literal, instead, it represents our heart.
In the times we live in today, people are more quick to answer a phone call or text message before they answer the call of God on their lives.
People seem to open their door for others, just to invite gossip, hatred, and ungodly behavior into their homes, which later causes an imbalanced atmosphere in the home.
However, Jesus is knocking at our door with a desire that we open our doors to Him so that He can come in to dwell with us, clean up the filth in our homes, and create an atmosphere of love and peace and one that carries a sweet and pleasing aroma.
He intends on taking on what seems to worry us and the things that feel so weighty. He also wants to complete the things that cannot be done in our own strength, provide for us, and protect us from the people that wants to bring us no good thing.
But before any of this can be done, we must answer Him by opening the door to Him.
The door of our hearts.
Giving Him full access into our hearts.
One thing to keep in mind is that He will not force Himself in. It is us that makes the decision of whether we open our hearts to Him, or not.
Know and understand that our choice to open our hearts has everything to do with the eternal home that corresponds with our decision.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
