My daughter, Kailani, came to me crying with her Barbie doll in one hand and one of its leg in the other hand.
As she continued to weep she said, “Mommy, my doll is broken.” I took the doll and its leg from her hands and after looking at it then turning back to her, I asked, “Do you believe I can fix it?”
Wiping her tears, she responded, “Yes”.
I then proceeded to fix it, and after doing so, I handed the Barbie back over to her and she happily left the room.
This moment reminded me of the childlike faith that Jesus encourages us to have in Matthew 18:2-5 and Luke 18:15-17.
Many times, adults feel that children believe anything, including the impossible and unbelievable. But believing like children is the very mindset that Father God wants us to have.
The questions we must ask ourselves is not “Can I believe?” because we have the ability to believe whatever we choose to believe; rather it’s “Do I believe?”:
“Do I believe in my Father?”
“Do I believe Him to work miracles in my life?”
“Do I trust Him to fix the brokenness in my heart?”
“Do I believe Him for the impossible?”
“Do I believe Him to take care of me?”
Father God is always willing and able to do what we ask of Him, according to His good and perfect will. But before He do, we must first believe.
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Matthew 21:22 NIV
