As I was in the kitchen cooking and cleaning, my daughter tugged and tugged on my pants leg as she whined and repeatedly asked me to pick her up.
At that very moment, I couldn’t comfort her or give her what she wanted because my hands were full of things to do.
However, her father sat in the living room and repeatedly called her to himself.
She refused to go as she continued to beg for my attention.
As her father continued to call her name, I let her know that even though I was unable to tend to her, she had a father that was ready and available to give her the attention, comfort, and love that she needed.
In that moment, I was reminded of how Father God is also ready and available to receive us. There are going to be times that our loved ones wouldn’t be able to give us the attention that we need. Yet, we have a father that is continuously calling us into His arms, wanting and waiting to satisfy what we so desperately need in every moment of our lives.
As humans, it can be frustrating and disappointing when we cannot get what we want from others, especially if they have a track record of meeting a specific need. However, we must always remember that Father God can give us everything we need and more.
God’s promises that if we come to Him and ask, seek, and knock for anything, it will be given.
We just have to take a moment and recognize His call, answer Him, and come.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! "
