The quickest way to get a child to leave the dinner table is by filling their plates with lots of vegetables, beans, and a sort of other healthy foods.
Most children struggle to consume the healthy foods, while the unhealthy foods always seem to be the body’s “friend”.
But when it all comes down to it, we know that it is the good and nutritious foods that will cause our children to grow strong and healthy with little to no sickness or diseases.
However, they cannot see it that way, which now reminds me of how, in the same way, we are unable to see how discipline and trials isn’t purposed to hurt or make life tough for us. Instead, they are meant to strengthen us, prepare us, build and mold us into the women and men that God purposed us to become.
Having to sit at the table where we’re served a plate full of trials and tribulation may not be the ‘meal’ we desire. However, once we get a glimpse of what’s before us from God’s perspective, it is easier to accept it and do what is necessary for us to move on to the next thing God has for us.
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11 NIV
