One early morning before dawn, as my children woke up, I could hear them call for me. Moments later, they all barged into my room and laid in bed alongside me.
In my mind I questioned, “Now why do they feel the need to flock to me this early in the morning when they could be doing something else or going into some other room?”
Then I heard this rebuke:
“Their desire and eagerness to be in your presence as the first part of their day ought to be a desire of your own when it comes to Father God.
From the impact of the intimacy and the daily communication you have with God ought to prompt your spirit to run into His presence to be with Him.”
Choosing God to be first in everything ought to become a part of who we are.
We choose Him because He first chose and loved us first.
Christ made us priority when He hung on the cross for our sins.
So, why not make His presence priority in our lives? In addition, this is how we receive our daily bread that is needed in order to complete His will for our lives.
"O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
My soul follows close behind You;
Your right hand upholds me."
