I think about all the many times I pleaded my children to not do something that would result in a negative consequence, hoping and praying that they’d trust and yield to the sound wisdom and instruction I give them.
I’ve always understood that at the end of the day, they’d have to make their own decisions.
But yet, I still make it an obligation to inform them about the outcomes of both positive and negative decisions and how they’d be affected by either.
This reminds me of how God continuously plead with us, his beloved children, throughout the book of Proverbs, to turn our ear to His voice and trust Him to lead us in everything.
Just as parents would, God knows the end to every good and bad path. Therefore, His plea is meant for us to follow His leading, His instructions, and fully trust Him to lead us on every good path.
God is Alpha and Omega.
He sees what we cannot see.
He knows what we do not know.
He understands how anxious and fearful we feel when we don’t have all the answers and is having a hard time fully trusting Him in the unknown.
Yet, He gives us assurance that “whoever listens to me [God] will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harms.” [Proverbs 1:33]
God cannot and will not fail His children. He is a man of His Word and we can trust and know that His plead will lead us to a life worth trusting Him for.
"Listen, my son, accept what I say,
and the years of your life will be many.
I instruct you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths.
When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;
when you run, you will not stumble.
Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;
guard it well, for it is your life."
Proverbs 4:20-13 NIV
