Start Again

As my husband was helping our son with his homework, he said to him, “Stop, breathe, and relax. It is ok to start over.”

The power of those words not only caught me by surprise, but within me, it gave me hope again.

Here it is, the fourth day of a new month and I have missed a few opportunities that I wanted to commit to, and as a result, I’ve felt shame, disappointment, and discouragement.

Hearing the words of a father to his son assured me that my Heavenly Father is saying the exact same thing to me.

“Tiffany, it is ok to start over.

You are alive and well today because you have another opportunity to start over and try again.

Stop and take a moment to breathe and relax.

God is with you and God is for you.

Just start again.

"I remember my affliction and my wandering,
    the bitterness and the gall.
 I well remember them,
    and my soul is downcast within me.
 Yet this I call to mind
    and therefore I have hope:
 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness."
