My son, Kyzer, wanted some potato chips and thought that he could butter me up before seeing if he could get away with getting the chips from the kitchen counter.
Though he didn’t know that moments before he came across the room to me, I had already seen him lay eyes on the chips as he perked up in excitement to get his hands on them.
He hugged me, squeezed my arm, and told me he loved me as his way of softening my heart.
It tickled me a bit to see him in action while thinking that he could fool me when I already knew the intentions of his heart.
Just like my son, there are many people, (including myself)that have prayed to God for things with selfish motives for personal gain.
What most people tend to miss is that God is all-knowing and there is nothing we can do or say that could fool Him into giving us what we want.
Our hearts are laid bare before Him.
He knows the invisible things that people cannot see such as the thoughts, intentions, and desires of the heart.
People can mask their truest intentions but God sees, knows, and judges the hidden truth. This is why we must check our hearts daily.
Impurity, evil, and wickedness can be the very things that keep us from being eternally united with Him.
Just as David did, we too must pray that God would create in us a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us and to make us aware of our sin against Him.
No fancy prayer, no crocidile tears, no bear hug, and no eloquent speech can move God if our hearts carry wrong intentions.
God is loving and giving, but He is not gullible and foolish.
He is a wise God!
"Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and we will have to tell him the truth." - Hebrews 4:13 CEV
