As I was rinsing my son off in the bathtub after bathing him, he gently whispered,
“Thank you mommy for bathing me.”
Ohh how this touched my heart in so many ways and leading me to do a self reflection on my level of gratitude.
Have I been this grateful to God?
Does He often get a “Thank you Father” when He do things that most people often overlook?
Giving me the ability to cook for my family..
pay for our bills..
wash clothes in the washer and dryer..
drive to the store and pay for our necessities with income that He blessed my husband and I with..
hold the keys to a place we can call home.. and so forth.
Gratefulness extends past what our natural eyes can see and touch.
It’s appreciation for the things that is another one’s choices.
Each day, God chooses to love us, provide for us, protect us, teach us, support us and so much more.
Because of this, we ought to be grateful for who He is and all that He’s done, what He’s doing, and what He’s going to do for us.
A MOMent to Reflect:
Too many times people compare their lives to others and begin to wish that maybe they had the same car, same house, or even the same career as someone else’s.
This isn’t God’s will for us.
The 10th Commandment tells us to not covet (be jealous of) our neighbors and anything that is considered theirs.
God wants us to recognize and appreciate what we have in our possession.
At the very moment we recognize what we have, we will also recognize the abundance of God’s goodness and faithfulness that’s been in our lives all along.
I can be sure that most of us will even have more than enough. In fact, so much that we can bless others in major ways.
Being grateful for what’s before us is great, but what’s even more awesome is that we can be grateful that we have a heavenly Father that knows us by name and have called us His very own.
Let us not wait until the one day of the year in November, known to be Thanksgiving, to appreciate everything and everyone.
Today and every day that God grants us is the day of thanksgiving.
I pray that we never forget that we owe thanks to God for every moment.
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
