Follow The Leader

If my children do nothing else, they will literally follow me everywhere I go.

What I do in any room I go into, it doesn’t faze them because all they really want is to sit around and be in my presence [and business, lol].

Sometimes they are entertained by what I do and other times they find something to play with while they hang with me.

Some days ago, when I went into the bathroom to ‘mind my business‘ [settle down, it’s human!], my children decided come in, shut the door and sit in with me.

God then begin to give me revelation by showing me that this is the willingness that we as believers ought to have when it comes to following Him.

The questions we must ask ourselves are:

Am I truly willing to follow God everywhere?

Am I willing to follow Him into the rooms that may feel uncomfortable because of the people that look different from me , smell different, come from a different background, or even has a perspective or belief that is different from mine?

If I follow God and see that He’s taken me to a place that may seem dead and hopeless as He did with the prophet, Ezekiel, do I turn around and find something else that’ll please only me, or do I stay and partner with the resurrecting power of God?

I am sure to believe that we really do not know what our “Yes” to God is attached to exactly; but what I do know is that there will be suffering and some difficult things to endure.

This does not mean that God’s love for us has changed or we are in disobedience. It simply means that He loves us so much that He is willing to lead us through some furnaces that is uncomfortable, yet is used to purify and mold us to the beings that He has ordained us to be.

When we follow Him all the way through – without giving up, we can be sure that we will ALWAYS come out on the winning side.

And what our stomachs were once weak and insensitive to, would become a tool that train us for the greater calling.

A MOMent to Reflect:

For most people, the bathroom is the best place to be in a home.

Other than getting rid of bodily waste, some people use it to pray and meditate in silence, read the Bible or a book, take a long shower, or soak in the hot tub for a moment.

Either way, I believe that God may lead us to a room [or a place] that can be symbolic of the bathroom, to wring out the sin in our hearts and purify us with the cleansing of His word in the same way water do.

People will follow God to all the places that they feel they can handle, but when it’s time to go to the one room that we think is unbearable, they tuck tail and run.

As true followers of Jesus Christ, our mindset should not be set on the place we are being led to. Instead, we ought to be set on the leader that we are following – Jesus Christ.

"Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?"
