Top Priority

As I was on a phone call with some family members, something was mentioned that made me think on how we as parents make so many sacrifices for our children.

We would take days off work, move some things around in our busy schedule, and even cancel meetings or doctor appointments just to show up for our children and give them our undivided attention – even if there are extreme sacrifices we must make. We would miss out and give up anything just to be there for our babies – regardless of their age.

For a moment, conviction came over me as I begin to think about the many times that I have went over and beyond for my children. No day or time was ever inconvenient when it came to them. Yet, I have failed, countless times, to show up for God to study His Word, pray, or sit in His presence and listen to His heart.

I realized the hurt and pain Father God must have felt when we continually ignored Him or made Him last in our priorities; yet, He continued to do everything to prove to us that He earnestly loves us, His children.

He provides. He protects. He shows up for us even when we do not consider Him. He heals our broken hearts and count our tears when people hurt and fail us – even our own children whom we sacrifice so much for.

No matter where we are or what we are doing, He still makes us top priority.

God deserves to be our first.

He deserves to be top priority. This means that absolutely no one or nothing can take place before Him. He deserves every fiber of our being because He is God.

The very breath in our lungs, the activity in our limbs, the ability to see and hear all belongs to Him.

Yes, He is a loving God, but He is also a jealous God because before we became a parent, spouse, or worker, we were placed on this earth to show up for Him first.

Is He top priority in your life?

“Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God .” Exodus 34:14

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬
