A Silent Student

During the moments of going over educational things with my children, my oldest daughter, Kailani, display such a humbling expression as way of letting me know she doesn’t know something.

She will simply silence herself and look right at me for the answer.

When she did it a few days ago, I felt that God had me to really ponder on how my responses to Him should look when I don’t know the answers to situations and problems that I face.

Many times in the past, we have gotten tripped up into situations that we knew nothing about. Instead of looking to God for the answer, we jumped for the first answer that came to our carnal mind, leaving us and our plans to fail.

This could have all been avoided if we would have taken a moment to humble ourselves and seek Father God for the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that we needed for the right answer.

Even if things “seem” right to us and make perfect sense, we could still be wrong because our ways, thoughts, solutions, and ideas are not even close to God’s.

His ways are perfect.

His timing is perfect.

His answers are perfect.

He is a perfect god.

No one can give us the same assurance that He can give to us.

His desire is that we humble ourselves; indicating that we know NOTHING and that we desperately need Him for every answer – even for the simplest problems.

In a moment of silence, we can glean from Him.

The teacher will not speak, teach, or explain if there is no silence.

When we silence ourselves for the purpose of receiving anything from God, we make a statement saying that we give Him full permission to be Lord of our lives. Then, at that point, He is sure to give us whatever it is that we need.

The Lord’s Prayer references our answers and provisions as “our daily bread,” which then calls us into action of literally seeking God for everything.

A MOMent to Reflect:

Dependence is a real thing.

Our children depends on us for everything. It’s very rare that they will question whether or not we will come through for them.

At times, we may get worked up by anxiety because of the great measure of dependence we know our kids have on us and the limited care we can only give.

But glory to the one and only Father that can never become anxious or over-burdened by our calls for help.

We were created to depend on Him – even as our children depend on us.

We do not have to figure it out because God has already mapped everything out.

He knows when the diapers and food is low.

He knows when the car needs a tune-up and gas to transport the children to school and doctor appointments.

He knows when we need strength to knock out laundry, cook dinner, and get prepared for the next day.

He knows that we do not have all the answers..

Therefore, He stands at the door and patiently wait for us to silence the noise in our minds and look to Him for the right answers.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight
."
Proverbs 3:5-6
