Welcoming The New

My eldest daughter, Kailani, wanted something to drink in a sippy cup that was bought for our 1 year old daughter, Kamryn.

She was used to drinking from this specific sippy cup because this is what she had when she was younger and it was something that she was very comfortable with.

Because of her age and her proven ability in drinking from a regular cup, I poured her juice in a regular cup.

This caused her to get very upset but after convincing her of how cool it was to drink out of the “big girl” cup, she finally came to terms with the change that was made.

As moms, we can understand that growth entails moments of realizing and accepting reality. There will always be things that we will outgrow, therefore, we must be receptive to the new.

A common issue of the matter is that people tend to choose to not accept that they have outgrown a thing, neither are they able to accept the new things that is to help them in a greater capacity.

For Kailani, what she did not know was that, the sippy cup was giving her very limited access to the abundance of what she was thirsty for AND that if she willingly received the “big girl” cup, she would have full access to what she wanted – with nothing in her way.

Father God wants to upgrade every area of our lives but in order for Him to do so, we must let go of what we had in previous seasons because these are the very things that can limit us far beyond than what we think.

In the same way I knew that it was time for my daughter to upgrade, our Father knows the times that we need to upgrade as well.

A MOMent to Reflect:

As a mom, I understand the struggles and fears to release the old in order to receive the new. However, there are great rewards when we walk in faith – knowing that God will not let us down.

As I became more willing and humble to let go of pride and limited thinking so that I can receive what God wanted to say and give to me, things became clear and I began to recognize that I was holding on to things (and people) that were not serving me well.

It was the old things that blinded me to see the fullness of God and all that He wanted for me and my family.

It was the old things that gave me limited access to the full abundance that I had all along.

Now that the old things have been made known, let us (all) get rid of them so we can receive the new.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭18‬-‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬
