My older two children, Kyzer and Kailani, feel the need to go straight to their rooms when they get home after school.
When they go, they want either my husband or me to follow them there so that we can turn their TVs on.
Though, this is not the issue.
The issue is that they leave their rooms 5 minutes later and come back down stairs.
Before we know it, they have taken over the living room TV – leaving a running TV upstairs with no one watching it.
A few days ago, my husband and I refused to go upstairs to turn their TVs on and they both got upset and cried.
We did this because we knew what they were going to do with the TV in their room – abandon them.
We knew that they would end up in a total different room, getting entertained by something totally different than what was already asked for.
We did not waste the time or energy fulfilling their request.
As I reflected on this entire situation, I thought, “How many times do we, adults, ask (and sometimes cry for and beg) God for things, but when He answer our prayers, we don’t bother to give it the attention it needs?
We walk away from it and don’t bother to stick around to enjoy the things that we asked our Father for.
There may have been times that we’ve asked God for things like a job or car but turned around and complained, or not even bother to use it as we should.
When the time comes that He decides to not answer our prayers, we get upset and feel mistreated.
He do not answer or budge because He know our hearts.
He knows our intentions.
He knows that we wouldn’t be content with the blessings that He give.
He knows that we wouldn’t be loyal to Him and remain in the place we are supposed to be in.
So, the next time we pray for a thing, let’s examine our hearts to see if we are seriously ready and willing to receive the blessings of God.
A MOMent to Reflect:
Contentment is just as important as breathing the breath of life.
No longer should we waste time in anger when God doesn’t answer our requests.
This is the moment we should appreciate, respect, and be faithful for the blessings that we have NOW at our fingertips.
God wants to bless us and honor our requests, but He’d rather do so when we are ready to do our part.
“He who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little thing is also dishonest in much.”
Luke 16:10 AMP
