Some time ago, I was reading a couple of books to my children. During the readings, I was challenging them to pronounce certain words and if they got them correct, I rewarded them a few pieces of candy.
My son, Kyzer, got a bit greedy.
He held his hand out that still had what I previously gave him.
Then I thought about the many times we get greedy for more, when we haven’t even enjoyed the things that God has already given us.
We find ourselves having pity parties for things we don’t have – and in some cases, we don’t need.
God wants us to be content with what He has already given us.
What ever He has given us serves a purpose that will greatly benefit us…
(Well, maybe not the candy)
But as He tells us in Romans 8:28,
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
A MOMent to Reflect:
What are some things, or gifts, that Father God has given us that we have pushed aside and totally ignored?
If we were to take a moment to discover what the thing is, how can we make use of it to bless others and honor God?
“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
