I Just Want You

I sat my daughter on the sofa as I made a quick run to my office to grab something.

(To the concerned moms: she is big enough to get down on her own but if she do not, she will just sit there and not move.)

When I came back, she began to whine as she held her arms up, indicating that she wanted me to pick her up.

Instead, I gave her two of her favorite crackers so she can relax – and so that I could get out of picking her up.

Unfortunately, that did not work.

She just wanted me. Her mom.

Instantly, I thought of my desire for God as she lifted her hands to reach for me.

How bad do we want our Heavenly Father?

Are we willing to give up our favorite snack, activity, or television show to be with Him?

God satisfies us in a way that no one or nothing else can.

But it starts with a hunger and thirst for Him..

for His Word..

and for His presence.

A MOMent to Reflect:

God’s arms are always open wide to receive us, His children.

Our hearts ought to respond with the words:

“Father, I just want you!

O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You; My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have gazed upon You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. [Ps 42:1, 2] Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. So will I bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul [my life, my very self] is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises [to You] with joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I meditate and thoughtfully focus on You in the night watches, For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings [where I am always protected] I sing for joy. My soul [my life, my very self] clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. But those who seek my life to destroy it Will [be destroyed and] go into the depths of the earth [into the underworld]. They will be given over to the power of the sword; They will be a prey for foxes. But the king will rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him [honoring the true God, acknowledging His authority and majesty] will glory, For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭63‬:‭1‬-‭11‬ ‭AMP‬‬
