Every mom knows everything about each child they have.
We know when something has hurt them..
We know when something makes them happy..
We know what motivates them to do what needs to be done..
and we know what makes them feel afraid.
Whichever moment they experience, I am sure that every mom makes it her business to step in to support their children however she needs to.
My daughter, Kailani, has this “thing” where she’d wake up in the wee hours of the night. She would either cry and yell for me or her daddy, lay there and watch TV, or go room to room – expecting someone to play with her.
As her mom, I learned to accept that this is what she just does. Instead of getting frustrated with her about waking me up from the little sleep I was getting, I began using these opportunities to read to her scripture and pray with her.
Sometimes, if my nightly duties are stretched into the late night/early morning, I’d just stay up for the time that I know she would awake so that she knows that I’m available for her.
In the same way, God is always available to us.
No matter the time, day, or place- including the late night hours. He neither sleeps nor slumbers.
Always ready to comfort us..
Always ready to speak to us.. and
Always ready to put us back together when we feel beat up and broken.
A MOMent to Reflect:
A mother’s love runs deep.
So deep that it’ll have her showing up for everyone else, but put herself and her needs as last priority.
She makes herself available even in the times she wants to say no.
Yet, Father God wants every mother to make herself available to Him so that He can refill her with everything she needs and more.
Mom, can you make that happen for you?
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
Psalms 121:1-4 NIV
