In the times when the housework demands more of your time and attention than that of the children, we have what ‘seems’ to be a hard choice to make.
It seems as if every time we make the choice to get housework done, the children act up.
They want us to hold them, feed them, play with them, or even just be still and sit with them.
By any means, none of these things are wrong.
But there comes a time when we have to be ok with letting them have a pity party while we get the necessary house work done.
When I first became a mom, mom guilt had me in a headlock!
My mama knew it and she would tell me,
“Tiffany, if you’ve played with your child, feed and burped him, washed and lotion’d him up, and you know that his pamper is good and dry, honey be ok with him crying. He will be ok! You know you’ve done everything you were suppose to do as a mother, so be at peace.”
Even though her words gave me a sense of relief, the mom guilt didn’t quiet go away. Moreover, I was able to get housework done which gave me a sense of peace and satisfaction of the atmosphere I was to set in my home.
This made me come to think about our relationship with God.
We cry, pout, throw an adult tantrum (what ever that looks likes to you), or keep praying the same prayer about what we “hope” God will hear and respond to – all while knowing that it’s no good for us.
And because God knows that He’s got us covered,
has our future in His hands,
know that we’re not in danger,
and know that He’s taken care of everything we need,
He let us cry it out until we come to know – and trust, that we’re ok and He’s in control.
At that moment, we can rest as He work the fine details in our lives to set us up for amazing things and opportunities.
A MOMent to Reflect:
It can feel uncomfortable to feel like God isn’t answering our prayers, let alone moving in our lives.
In these moments, we have to do everything in our power to push past what we feel and get to the place of believing what we know.
We know that God loves us.
We know that God will never leave nor forsake us.
We know that God will provide ALL of our needs.
We know that He is Alpha and Omega; the Beginning and the End.
We know that God is faithful and good – no matter who or what says and do.
To all my Moms,
God sees you.
He’s not blind or deaf.
He counts every tear.
He hears the screams that no one else can hear.
He feels the load and pain that you carry without a soul knowing all the details.
It is His desire that – even in that place you’re in, You draw near to Him.
Get to know God at a greater level than you know now.
You were not created to go through life on your own.
He wants you to rest and be at peace while He labors on your behalf.
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”Psalms 46:10
