If you’re a lot like me, a mom with more than one child, I’m sure that at one point or another, you have gotten your childrens’ names mixed up.
There are times when they know who’s name you meant to call, and then there are times they turn their attention to you just to find out that they were not the one you meant to call.
Either way, they know who they are.
They know their name and it is what they respond to,
As a parent, (their mother in our case), we had/have a gift – that no one else was given – to name our children. The very beings that God birthed thru us.
What we call them stands. Regardless of what other people have called them or will call them, they are still
A) Our Child and
B) Named what we called them to be.
I’m sure that as mothers, we expect for them to answer – especially when we want them to hand us the remote and turn off the light. (insider joke lol)
In the same way, Father God expects us to answer when He calls us by name.
But do we know our name? Our identity?
Do we know what He says about us?
Do we know why He thinks about us? Cares for us? Loves us? Protects us? Provides for us?
I have no problem answering these questions, but for your soul’s sake, if you seem to not be able to answer these questions, a good suggestion is to read and study the Word of God and find all the answers…… and more.
It wasn’t until recently, that I realized that everything that people have called me or said about me did not and do NOT matter, at all – whatsoever.
When we ALL stand before God on judgment day, the only thing that will matter is what He says about us!
Not what our frenemies (friend enemies) have said.
Not what the bullies have said.
Not what the gossipers have said.
Not what Facebook, IG, TikTok, or even your “boo-thang” have said.
Only what God says..
Our eternal home is dependent on what He says.
BUT while we’re still here on earth, we have to answer and walk according to what He says.
A MOMent to Reflect:
The title of a mother can often blur other titles out which can leave us feeling bound and very limited to do anything – even for ourselves.
Becoming a mother did not stop (and should not stop) us from answering the call of God on our lives.
It doesn’t matter what mistakes you made, what you’ve done, or who you’ve been ‘back in the day’….
God still loves you..
God still cares for you..
God still sees you as His very own child.
He’s still calling..
Calling you by name.
But will you answer?
“But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth— everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
Isaiah 43:1-7 NIV
