Listening to the song “More Like You” by Todd Galberth, the words began to fill my heart and give me the relief that I so desperately needed.
As mothers, we burn out so quickly nowadays because of the pressures to be so many things to our children.
“Superwoman” is what they name it.
I would define this as someone that successfully attempts to be so many things for their children – and other people.
I want to say that I’m so glad that God have given us the ability to do such things, but………..
I have to be honest.
That pressure is ALOT.
But, the good news is that we do not have to be everything because, technically, God did not create us to be like that. In fact, being “everything” is His job that only He can fulfill. Instead, He created us to be more like Him.
To reflect His image..
To carry out HIS duties..
To please Him..
And to give Him our all in the same way He’s given us His all.
Take a note of this:
We can’t be everything to our children (and anyone else) if God is not our everything.
It is God that gives us life and allows us to produce life.
It is God that gives us the strength, the opportunities, and the abilities to show up for ourselves, our children, and others.
A MoMent to Reflect:
Moving forward, in what ways can we surrender ourselves to God so that He can be everything to us?
He is better than anything and anyone; which is why we ought to be more like Him.
